Christopher G. Smith

Attorney
I’m proud to serve clients in Haywood County and the surrounding area—the community where I was raised and continue to call home. My goal is simple: provide clear, practical legal guidance and strong advocacy while treating every client with respect, honesty, and care. After graduating from Tuscola High School, I earned my degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from East Tennessee State University and later received my law degree from Elon University School of Law. I began my career as an Assistant District Attorney in North Carolina’s 43rd Prosecutorial District, where I spent more than four years handling cases in both District and Superior Court, including bench and jury trials. That courtroom experience allows me to prepare thoroughly, anticipate challenges, and advocate effectively for my clients. I understand that facing a legal issue can be stressful, and I strive to be someone my clients can trust—an attorney who listens, explains the process clearly, and works hard to protect their rights and future.
